FAQ — Mystify Screensaver
What is the Mystify screensaver?
Mystify — full name Mystify Your Mind — is a classic screensaver bundled with Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000 and XP. One or two polygons bounce around the screen with their corners moving independently, and each shape leaves a trail of fading, color-shifting copies behind it, creating hypnotic ribbon patterns. This page recreates the effect in your browser using HTML5 Canvas with adjustable shapes, trails and colors.
Is this the real Windows Mystify screensaver?
This is an original browser recreation inspired by the classic Windows Mystify Your Mind screensaver — bouncing polygons with fading colored trails. It is not affiliated with Microsoft. It runs entirely in your browser so you can enjoy the nostalgia on any modern device without installing the old software.
How do I run this fullscreen as a screensaver?
Click the animation or press Enter Fullscreen in the sidebar. The polygons will fill your entire screen. Move your mouse to reveal the exit button, or press Escape to return to normal view. You can also press F to toggle fullscreen at any time. It looks great on a TV or a spare monitor.
Do I need to download or install anything?
No. This Mystify screensaver runs entirely in your browser using HTML5 Canvas. There is nothing to download or install. It works on any modern browser on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android.
Can I change the colors and number of shapes?
Yes. Choose a Rainbow cycle, a fixed custom color, an icy palette or a glowing Neon look, and adjust the number of Shapes, Points per shape, Speed, Trail length and Line width with the sliders. The Chaos preset fills the screen with many busy polygons.
Is this Mystify screensaver free?
Yes, completely free. No account, no ads, no watermark. It is one of 122 free browser-based tools at jasperbernaers.com.
