Guide — an original unimpressed cat, fullscreen
An original grey tabby that frowns, blinks slowly, flicks its tail and delivers deadpan one-liners. Four scenes, one sass slider, nothing to install.Choose Cosy, Spotlight, VHS or Night, or press 1 to 4. Spotlight sets the sass rate to 6, Night to 4 and the other two to 5.
Drag Sass rate from 1 to 10. A new one-liner appears every 4.25 seconds at 1, down to every 2 seconds at 10 (3.25 seconds by default), and the tail flicks a little faster too.
Toggle the One-liners (or press C), the Tail flick and the Scanlines. Eight lines rotate, from “No.” to “Not impressed.”
Press Enter Fullscreen, click the scene or press F. Move the mouse to show the Exit Fullscreen and Pause buttons, or press Esc to leave.
Space or Pause freezes the cat mid-frown. R or Reset Defaults returns to Cosy with sass rate 5 and every toggle on.

The Grumpy Cat screensaver, explained
What is the grumpy cat meme?
Grumpy Cat was a real cat named Tardar Sauce from Arizona. Photos of her naturally downturned, permanently unimpressed face were posted on Reddit in September 2012 and spread worldwide within days, leading to books, merchandise and TV appearances. She died in May 2019. This screensaver is a deadpan tribute to that grumpy energy, starring an original cartoon cat.
Is this the real Grumpy Cat?
No. Grumpy Cat was a specific real cat, and her name and image were commercially licensed by her owners. The cat here is an entirely original cartoon drawn with JavaScript on an HTML5 canvas: a grey tabby with green eyes, not a copy of that cat. The page is not affiliated with or endorsed by the rights holders.
How do I run it fullscreen?
Click the scene, press Enter Fullscreen or press F. Move the mouse to show the Exit Fullscreen and Pause buttons, which hide again after 2.5 seconds, or press Esc (or F again) to leave.
What does the sass rate change?
Two things: how quickly the one-liners rotate (each one fades in and out over 4.25 seconds at rate 1 and 2 seconds at rate 10) and how fast the tail flicks. The slow blink, once every 5.5 seconds, stays the same. Moving the slider or flipping a toggle deselects the active scene button, but the scene itself stays.
