Guide — the 2007 dramatic zoom, fullscreen and on a loop
Four scenes, adjustable zoom punch and frequency, cinematic bars and an optional original suspense sting. A canvas cartoon tribute, nothing to install.Choose Classic, Triple, Noir or VHS, or press 1 to 4. Triple fires three punch-ins about half a second apart instead of one.
Zoom punch (1 to 10, default 7) sets how far the shot pushes in: about 1.7× at 7 and 2.2× at 10. Frequency (1 to 10) sets the wait between zooms from roughly 4.9 seconds down to 2 seconds.
Press Zoom now! or Z for an instant dramatic turn, and toggle the Cinematic bars and Scanlines.
Switch on Suspense sting or press S for an original “dun dun dunnn” generated with the Web Audio API on every zoom. Sound is off by default.
Press Enter Fullscreen, click the scene or press F. Space pauses, R resets, and Esc or the Exit Fullscreen button (shown when you move the mouse) leaves.

What is the Dramatic Chipmunk?
A five-second clip that went viral on YouTube in 2007: a small rodent (actually a prairie dog) whips its head round to face the camera as the shot zooms in, set to a short burst of suspenseful music. The footage comes from a Japanese TV programme. It became shorthand for any over-the-top dramatic reveal.
Is this the real clip?
No. The animal is an original cartoon and the sound is an original suspense sting, so no copyrighted footage or music is used. It's an unaffiliated homage to the dramatic zoom-in meme.
Does it have sound?
Optionally. Toggle Suspense sting on (or press S) and an original "dun dun dunnn" cue plays on each zoom, generated live with the Web Audio API. It is not the music from the original clip, and it stays off until you switch it on.
Is it actually a chipmunk?
No, it is a prairie dog, not a chipmunk. The name stuck anyway. The cartoon here is a chunky, big-eyed rodent in the same spirit: it sits with its back to you, then snaps round with wide eyes as the camera punches in.
