Guide — a crackling fire on any screen, fullscreen
Filmed real flames by default, four animated fire modes, flame colours, five sliders and optional crackling sound. Nothing to install.Real Fire (filmed footage of a wood fire, the default), Classic, Cozy, Inferno or Blue Flame. Keys 1 to 5 switch between them in that order.
Intensity, Height and Spread (1 to 10), Embers and Glow (0 to 10). On Real Fire, Intensity sets the brightness and Height zooms the footage; Spread only affects the animated modes.
Flame Color switches between Warm, Blue, Emerald and Violet. In the animated modes you can also hide the logs or the brick fireplace.
Crackling sound unmutes the audio of the Real Fire footage. Switching it on in an animated mode jumps back to Real Fire. Sound is off by default.
Press Enter Fullscreen, click the fire or press F. Space pauses, R resets to Real Fire, and Esc or the Exit Fullscreen button (shown when you move the mouse) leaves.

Fireplace screensaver, explained
What is the fireplace screensaver?
It turns your screen into a cozy virtual fireplace, the digital cousin of the Yule log fireplace videos people put on their TVs over the holidays. It opens on filmed footage of a real wood fire (credited to Pexels in the sidebar) with live sparks and glow drawn on top. The four other modes are animated fires generated live in your browser with WebGL, over a drawn brick hearth and logs. Nothing to install.
Can I put this fireplace on my TV?
Yes. Open this page in a smart TV browser, or cast or plug in a laptop, then press Enter Fullscreen or F. The fire fills the whole screen. The page does not stop the screen from going to sleep, so set the device’s sleep or screensaver timer to Never while it runs.
How do I run this fullscreen as a screensaver?
Click the fire, press Enter Fullscreen in the sidebar or press F. Move the mouse to reveal the Exit Fullscreen and Pause buttons, which hide again after 2.5 seconds, or press Escape to return to the normal view.
Does it have sound?
Optionally. The page starts muted. Switch on Crackling sound to unmute the audio of the filmed Real Fire footage; the animated modes have no sound of their own, so turning sound on from one of them switches back to Real Fire. If your browser blocks playback with sound, the video keeps playing muted.
Can I change how the fire looks?
Yes. Pick one of the five modes, then use the sliders for Intensity, Height, Spread, Embers and Glow, and recolour the flames warm, blue, emerald or violet. On the filmed Real Fire the colour is a filter over the video, Intensity changes its brightness and Height zooms in or out; Spread and the logs and brick fireplace toggles apply to the animated modes.
