Four modes, a black or daytime sky, and sliders for the flock, the toast, speed, size and wing flaps. A canvas recreation, nothing to install.Choose Classic, Toast Storm, Daydream or Zen, or press 1 to 4. Classic is the black sky; Daydream and Zen use a blue sky with drifting clouds.
Toasters sets 2 to 40 flying objects (14 by default), and Toast (0 to 10) sets how many of them are slices of toast: none at 0, about one in four at the default 3, half at 10.
Speed (1 to 10) sets how fast they glide down to the left, Size (5 to 20) scales them, and Flap (1 to 10) sets the wing beat.
Toggle Daydream sky or press B to swap between the black background and the blue sky at any time.
Press Enter Fullscreen, click the animation or press F. Space pauses, R resets to Classic, and Esc or the Exit Fullscreen button (shown when you move the mouse) leaves.

What is the Flying Toasters screensaver?
Flying Toasters is the best-known module of After Dark, the screensaver series Berkeley Systems launched for the Macintosh in 1989 and later brought to Windows. Chrome toasters with flapping wings and slices of toast glide across a black screen, and it became an icon of early-90s desktop computing. This page recreates the effect in your browser on an HTML5 canvas, with four modes and adjustable settings.
Is this the original After Dark Flying Toasters?
No. It is an original browser recreation inspired by the After Dark look: winged toasters and flying toast, drawn from scratch with JavaScript. It is not affiliated with Berkeley Systems or the original software, uses none of its graphics or sound, and runs in any modern browser with nothing to install.
How do I run this fullscreen as a screensaver?
Click the animation, press Enter Fullscreen in the sidebar or press F. The toasters fill the whole screen. Move the mouse to reveal the Exit Fullscreen and Pause buttons, which hide again after 2.5 seconds, or press Escape. The page does not stop your screen from sleeping, so set the sleep timer to Never if you leave it on a TV or spare monitor.
Do I need to download or install anything?
No. The toasters are drawn live on an HTML5 canvas in your browser, so there is nothing to download or install. It works in any modern browser on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android. A web page can’t register as your operating system’s screensaver, so use fullscreen instead.
What is the Daydream sky mode?
Daydream swaps the black background for a light blue sky with six slowly drifting clouds, and flies the toasters a little slower with a calmer wing beat. You can also turn the sky on in any mode with the Daydream sky toggle or the B key; Classic keeps the black background associated with the original.
Can I change how many toasters appear?
Yes. The Toasters slider sets 2 to 40 flying objects, and Toast sets what share of them are slices of toast rather than toasters. Speed and Size control their motion and scale, and Flap the wing speed. Toast Storm fills the sky with 36 fast toasters and lots of toast.
