With the Microsoft Intune Company Portal, employees install approved software themselves, without admin rights and without a service desk ticket. They also see their devices, can sync them and find IT contact details. This article shows how to install Company Portal automatically on all Windows PCs, how to make apps available and how it works on Mac, iPhone and Android.
Install Company Portal on all Windows PCs
- Go to the Microsoft Intune admin center > Apps > Windows.
- Select Add and choose app type Microsoft Store app (new).
- Select Search the Microsoft Store app (new), search for Company Portal and select the app from Microsoft.
- Set the install behavior to System, so the app is installed for all users on the device.
- Under Assignments, assign it as Required to All devices or a device group.
- Select Create.
Within a few hours Company Portal appears in the Start menu of every managed device. Using Windows Autopilot? Add Company Portal to the Enrollment Status Page so it's there at first sign-in.
Make apps available in Company Portal
An app appears in Company Portal when you assign it as Available for enrolled devices to a group of users. The user opens Company Portal, picks the app and selects Install. Typical examples:
- Tools not everyone needs, such as Power BI Desktop, Visio or a PDF editor.
- Printer drivers per office.
- Microsoft Store apps such as WhatsApp or Spotify, if your organization allows them.
Apps everyone must have, such as Microsoft 365 apps and your antivirus, are assigned as Required; they install automatically.
Brand Company Portal
Go to Tenant administration > Customization to set your logo, colors, organization name and service desk contact details. Add a link to your privacy statement too. Employees trust a portal in their own company style sooner.
On Mac, iPhone and Android

Problems
- An app doesn't appear: check that the user is in the group and the device is enrolled. In Company Portal, select Settings > Sync.
- Installation hangs: look at the app in Intune under Device install status for the error code.
