Collaborating in OneDrive

OneDrive is more than storage. You can mark favorites, edit together, share and store large files. Admins can also keep an eye on sync problems. Many of these features were announced a few years ago and are now part of the redesigned OneDrive on the web. Here's what helps you collaborate better today.

Favorites and quick access

Share the same way everywhere

The share dialog looks the same in OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams and the Office apps. You choose who gets access and whether they can view or edit. If a sharing option is greyed out, your admin has probably turned it off.

Work on a file together

Large files

You can upload files up to 250 GB to OneDrive and SharePoint. That's useful for videos, CAD drawings or 3D files. For many Office files the sync app only uploads the changed parts, which makes it faster. Keep in mind that large files fill up your storage quickly.

Monitor sync problems (admins)

In the Microsoft 365 Apps admin center (config.office.com) you find reports on the OneDrive sync status of your users' devices. That way you spot problems before users report them, for example during a migration to OneDrive. The exact report name and requirements may differ. Also see version history in OneDrive and SharePoint and the redesigned OneDrive on the web.
