Ten drum lanes — kick, snare, clap, closed and open hats, two toms, rim, perc and crash — run through a per-lane mixer, tempo-synced echo, an optional filter sweep and a master limiter, all synthesized live with the Web Audio API. Four kits are built in: the deep booming 808, the punchy club 909, a bit-crushed 8-bit kit that pairs with the 8-Bit Studio, and a zappy electro kit. How do I make a drum loop with this studio?

What drum kits are included?
Four kits, all synthesized live: 808 — deep booming kick, snappy snare and soft hats in the style of the most sampled drum machine ever; 909 — punchy club kick, noisy snare and metallic hats; 8-BIT — bit-crushed chip-style drums that match the 8-Bit Studio sound; ELECTRO — zappy synthetic kicks, laser toms and bright hats. Switch kits any time — your pattern stays, only the sound changes.
Are these drum samples?
No samples at all. Every hit is synthesized in real time with the Web Audio API: kicks are pitch-swept oscillators, snares mix a tuned body with shaped noise, claps are staggered noise bursts, 909 hats are stacks of detuned square waves, and the 8-bit kit uses sample-and-hold crushed noise. That's why the whole studio weighs almost nothing and works offline once loaded.
What do step probability and ratchets do?
Probability (Shift-click a step) makes a hit play only some of the time — 75%, 50% or 25% — so the loop breathes and never sounds exactly the same twice. A ratchet (Alt-click) retriggers the step 2, 3 or 4 times within its length — instant hi-hat rolls and trap-style stutters. Both are shown on the cell.

What is swing and how much should I use?
Swing delays every second 16th note so the groove leans instead of marching. 0% is robotic and clubby, 20–35% adds a human shuffle (great for house and hip-hop), 50%+ approaches a triplet feel. Try the same pattern at different swing values — it changes the character completely.
How does song mode work?
You have 8 patterns (A–H). In LOOP mode one pattern repeats, and pressing 1–8 while playing queues the next pattern to switch exactly on the bar — like a live set. In SONG mode you build a chain (for example A A B A C) and the studio plays through it in order, looping the whole arrangement. Export renders the full song chain.
How does the seamless loop export work?
The studio renders your loop offline, including the tempo-synced echo and long crash tails. Anything that rings past the end is wrapped around and mixed into the start of the file, so when the WAV repeats there is no gap and no cut-off tail — it loops perfectly in game engines, video editors and DAWs. Export 1, 2 or 4 repeats of the pattern or the whole song chain.
How does sharing a beat as a link work?
SHARE compresses your entire project — every step, kit choice and mixer value — into the link itself (the part after #). Nothing is uploaded and there is no account: anyone who opens the link gets your beat loaded instantly, ready to play and remix. Bookmark links as versions of your own work, or send them to friends.
What does fullscreen mode do?
Press F or the FULL button and the studio becomes a big performance surface: the grid and transport fill the screen, page chrome disappears, and a screen wake lock keeps your display on while you jam. Esc or the button exits. On iPhones, where true fullscreen isn't available, the studio expands to fill the whole page instead.
Can I use my loops in music, games or videos commercially?
Yes. What you program here is your own work — export the WAV and use it in your tracks, games, videos or streams, commercial or not, royalty-free. The studio itself is free with no strings attached; a credit or a coffee is appreciated but never required.

Does it work on my phone or tablet?
Yes — the grid is touch-friendly: tap to toggle steps, and all transport controls, the generator and the mixer work on mobile. A desktop browser is more comfortable for detail work (right-click velocity, Shift/Alt modifiers and finger drumming need a mouse and keyboard), but programming and jamming patterns works great on a phone.
Where are my beats saved?
Three ways: the studio autosaves to your browser's local storage as you work, so your beat survives a refresh; SAVE downloads the project as a small JSON file you can back up and LOAD later; and SHARE puts the entire project in a link — a bookmarked share link is a permanent copy. Nothing ever leaves your device unless you send the link.
