Online Virtual Piano_
A piano you play by typing
Online Virtual Piano turns your computer keyboard into a real piano. Press the letter keys and the matching notes sound instantly — the layout follows GarageBand's "Musical Typing", so the home row plays the white notes and the row above plays the sharps. You can also click the keys with the mouse or tap them on a touchscreen. Every note is pure piano, synthesised live in your browser, so nothing loads and nothing is recorded.

FAQ — Online Virtual Piano
How do I play the piano with my keyboard?
Press the letter keys on your computer keyboard. The home row (A S D F G H J K …) plays the white notes and the row above (W E T Y U …) plays the sharps and flats, exactly like Musical Typing in GarageBand. You can also click or tap the keys on screen.
What sounds does it use?
Only piano. Every note is synthesised live in your browser with the Web Audio API to imitate a piano's tone and natural decay — there is nothing to download and no samples to load.
I have an AZERTY / QWERTZ keyboard — can I still play?
Yes. Pick your layout in the Keyboard layout selector in the sidebar — QWERTY (US/UK), QWERTZ (German/Swiss) or AZERTY (French/Belgian). The keys under your fingers are remapped to the right notes, and the letters shown on the on-screen keys update to match.
How do I change octave?
Use the Octave − / + buttons in the sidebar or the ← / → arrow keys. The notes your keyboard currently plays are highlighted with a cyan strip on the on-screen keyboard.
Is there a sustain pedal?
Yes. Turn on Sustain pedal in the sidebar, or simply hold the Shift key while you play — notes keep ringing until you let go, just like the right pedal on a real piano.
How do I run it fullscreen?
Click the ⛶ fullscreen hint or the Enter Fullscreen button. Press Escape or the ✕ Exit button to leave. The keyboard stays fully playable in fullscreen, including on iPhone and iPad.
Is it free?
Yes, completely free. No account, no ads, no watermark. It's one of the free browser-based tools at jasperbernaers.com.
