wifi password generator_
Strong WPA2/WPA3 passwords without symbols and without lookalike characters (no O/0, l/1), so guests can type them from a card or a TV.
crypto.getRandomValues() with no modulo bias. A 128-bit token (16 bytes, 32 hex characters) can't be guessed; 256 bits is the usual choice for session secrets and signing keys.
crypto.getRandomValues() and a word list that ships with it. There is no backend, no logging and no analytics event
that carries what you generate. The page loads an anonymous, cookie-free page-view counter and nothing else.
Guide — how to use the wifi password generator
Generated in your browser with crypto.getRandomValues(); nothing is sent anywhere.
16 characters from letters and digits, with lookalikes removed, is about 88 bits.
Set the new password in the router's WiFi settings under WPA2 or WPA3.
Turn it into a scannable guest code with the WiFi QR code generator.
Give visitors their own password so you can change it without touching your devices.
Questions and answers
How long should a WiFi password be?
At least 12 characters; 16 or more is better. WPA2/WPA3 passwords can be up to 63 characters, and length matters more than symbols.
Why no symbols?
Many routers, TVs and printers handle symbols badly, and they are hard to read out loud. A longer password of letters and digits is just as strong and easier to type.
Why remove lookalike characters?
Characters such as O and 0 or l and 1 are easy to mix up when typed from a card or read aloud. Removing them avoids failed attempts.
Is WPA3 different?
The password rules are the same. WPA3 is better at resisting offline guessing, but a strong random password helps on both.
Is my WiFi password sent anywhere?
No. It is created and checked in the page, and nothing is transmitted.
