Making a seating chart, explained
A seating chart decides who sits where — at a wedding, a gala dinner, a family celebration or in a classroom. This maker lets you lay out the room with tables, drop your guests onto seats and print or share the result, without an account and without uploading your guest list.
Start with the guest list
Paste names from a spreadsheet, a message or your RSVP list: one name per line or separated by commas. Names that are already on the list are skipped, so you can paste late replies without creating duplicates. Unseated guests stay in the guest pool, and the counter tells you how many still need a place.
Lay out the room
Enter the size of the room in metres, then add tables. Round tables suit weddings and dinners because everyone faces the centre; rectangular tables work for banquet rows, classrooms and meetings; a head table seats the couple, the speakers or a board. Each table gets its own colour and a name you can change, and you can choose 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 seats.
Seating people
Drag a guest from the pool onto a seat, or click a seat to pick a guest. Auto-arrange clears the plan and fills the tables in alphabetical order — a quick first draft you then adjust by hand. Couples, families and people who should not sit together are up to you: the tool does not apply rules of its own.
Tips for weddings and dinners
- Seat the people who matter most for the occasion first — family, speakers, guests with mobility needs near the door — and fill the rest around them.
- Keep groups who know each other together, and give every table at least one connector who knows several people there.
- Write dietary needs or notes on your own guest list; this chart only stores names and seats.
Print, PNG and PDF
Print gives you the room plan plus a guest list for the venue. PNG saves the plan as an image for a message or a screen at the entrance, and PDF places it on a landscape A4 page. Guest list copies every guest with their table and seat number, ready to paste into a spreadsheet for the place cards.
Saving your work
The chart is saved automatically in your browser as you work, and Save / Load store and restore it explicitly. It stays on this device and this browser: clearing your browsing data removes it, so export a PNG or PDF of the final version.
Privacy
Guest names never leave your device; there is no account and no upload. The page loads two open-source libraries from a public CDN (html2canvas and jsPDF) to create images and PDFs, and counts visits with cookie-free Simple Analytics.
